Johan Lange torn to shreds as Tottenham make approach for last-gasp transfer
Tottenham Technical Director Johan Lange hasn’t exactly covered himself in glory as of late.
After what has been a fairly underwhelming winter transfer window, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Daniel Levy were to sack Lange.
At times it has felt as though Tottenham have operated a scattergun approach to this window, and that was further highlighted by the fact that the North London club made a last-gasp approach for Aston Villa forward Leon Bailey [via Fabrizio Romano, 2 February].
As reported by Sky Sports News (3:23 pm, 3 February), the winger isn’t expected to leave Villa Park.
However, the fact that an approach was even made in the first place was enough to anger Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham, who was speaking exclusively to Tottenham News.
“That is massively underwhelming,” Wenham said.
“Why is Lange picking up the phone to call Villa, they’ve gone and signed Marcus Rashford because Bailey isn’t good enough.
“Therefore, why are we going to take him off their hands? No, I’m sorry, it just isn’t good enough. Have some shame, have some respect. Bailey should never be coming to a club like Tottenham.”
Tottenham approach Aston Villa for Leon Bailey
Bailey has one goal and two assists in 20 Premier League appearances this season. Therefore, it is understandable why Wenham was so angry about the possibility of Spurs signing the forward.
Luckily, it seems as though Mathys Tel will now be joining the club instead after a Deadline Day twist. Therefore, it is unlikely that any late deal for Bailey will be happening, especially with Sky Sports News reporting that a Villa exit is unlikely for the 27-year-old.

However, the fact that it has taken Tottenham so long to get their business sorted when they could have had players in earlier to play a part in January will no doubt anger some fans in North London.
In other Tottenham news, an agent has shared an “absolutely mad” image with a deal almost done.
