Johan Lange baffles at Tottenham as Man City agree brand-new transfer

Johan Lange is in hot water after an underwhelming start to Tottenham’s transfer window.

Tottenham have been focused on bringing in Thomas Frank, and are yet to make any signings.

Frank’s appointment may have saved his compatriot Lange, who survived the recent cull of senior figures at Tottenham, which included the widely reported departure of Scott Munn, although this is yet to be made official.

Lange and Frank previously worked together at Danish side Lyngby and are now expected to work closely with one another in North London.

Daniel Levy will hope that keeping Lange will prove to be the right decision after recent developments have somewhat tarnished the Spurs chief’s reputation.

City agree deal to sign Sverre Nypan from Rosenberg

A byproduct of Spurs’ managerial change is that the North Londoners are yet to bring in a new face to Hotspur Way, while fellow Premier League rivals have already concluded multiple deals.

Manchester City have already made four permanent transfers, and according to Fabrizio Romano (12 June), are set to announce a fifth in 18-year-old Sverre Nypan from Rosenberg for over £12million.

The teenager has already featured 70 times for his current club and is the latest hot prospect to emerge from Norway in recent years.

Ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Tottenham should have tried to sign the central midfielder, and is baffled by how he wasn’t scouted by Lange.

“Tottenham have players they need to move on, such as Richarlison,” King said.

“In terms of incomings, why they’re moving for someone like Mathys Tel, I have no idea. They would have been better off going for Nypan, who is signing for Manchester City.

“For a Scandinavian, he seems to miss a few players from that part of the world, Lange.”

Lange will be in the spotlight this summer

Much has been made of Spurs’ recruitment strategy since Lange’s appointment from Aston Villa, with a lot of criticism being levied at the board for failing to sign top targets.

Tottenham look intent on rectifying their mistakes by signing Bryan Mbeumo, but Lange will also be expected to continue finding young prospects throughout Europe to bring to North London.

Plenty of outgoings, including Yves Bissouma, are expected this summer, which will give the 45-year-old ample opportunity to bring the right players to Tottenham.
