‘Jamie Donley stats speak for themselves as Tottenham loanee to be in demand’

Tottenham may face a significant decision regarding Jamie Donley in the upcoming transfer window.

The 20-year-old joined Stoke City on loan in the summer and has since featured five times for them in the Championship and Carabao Cup.

Spurs sent Donley and Ashley Phillips to the bet365 Stadium in the hopes of furthering their development, but things haven’t gone to plan so far.

On the other hand, Yang Min-Hyeok’s influence at Portsmouth is increasing, and the North London outfit should look to make changes in the coming months regarding their loanee.

Tottenham will have many suitors for Jamie Donley if opportunities at Stoke City limited

Donley has done enough to get more chances at Stoke this season, John Wenham says.

The Lilywhites Rose owner feels the Northern Irishman should be ahead of Bae Jun-ho in the pecking order for the number 10 role at the Potters.

If the young playmaker’s situation at the Staffordshire outfit doesn’t change, it wouldn’t be surprising to see other clubs line up for his services in the winter transfer window, leaving the North London outfit with a decision on whether they want to recall him.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Wenham said: “I think the stats start to speak for themselves. Donley’s had about 50 minutes in the number 10 role this season and has an assist to his name. The guy they’ve put in there has had about 11 games and has got one assist to his name. So I’m not sure how much more he can do, really.”

Wenham added: “He will be working hard, he’ll be scoring high on the distance run in, the long distance run, pressing from the front. But if he isn’t going to give him an opportunity, then when the January transfer window comes around, I’m sure there’ll be many, many other clubs looking to snap him up.”

Donley is one of the wonderkids to watch out for at Spurs, but his development is arguably being hampered at Stoke.

Jamie Donley has big challenge to secure Spurs future

Thomas Frank has Xavi Simons at his disposal after his move from RB Leipzig in the summer, and the Netherlands international will surely play a key role in N17 for years to come.

The 22-year-old has had a mixed start to life at Tottenham, but he’s someone who possesses a lot of quality, which will surely come to the fore sooner rather than later.

Donley will have to compete with Simons at the North London outfit, and that wouldn’t be an ideal scenario for the Northern Ireland international.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see the attacking-midfielder continue to spend time away from Spurs in the upcoming seasons, with competition at an all-time high.
