James Maddison tipped to spearhead Tottenham clearout as exit news emerges
James Maddison is one of three first-team Tottenham players who could be sold next summer, according to a former Spurs employee.
Maddison has been in and out of Ange Postecoglou’s first-team this season, with the midfielder mooted to be unhappy in North London as a result.
Finance expert Dan Plumley has suggested that Tottenham have “a big decision” to make over the midfielder’s future at the club, with £50million speculation suggesting that the 27-year-old could be in trouble [via TBR Football, 29 November].
And ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – doesn’t think Maddison is the only player potentially on the chopping block in North London ahead of the summer, with Alasdair Gold recently reporting via Football London [9 December] that Yves Bissouma could be on his way out.
“Bissouma is playing regular football in the Premier League,” King said.
“Therefore, Tottenham will certainly at least want the fee back that they paid for him. I would say that they might be prepared to let him go for somewhere between £25-35million.
“I think Richarlison might join him as well, and I’m not 100 per cent convinced that Maddison won’t also be part of the summer clearout at Tottenham.”
James Maddison, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison to leave Tottenham?
Maddison and Bissouma have both been inconsistent this term. Therefore, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see at least one of the two midfielders moved on at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Richarlison hasn’t been able to keep himself fit. As a result, the club have been urged to cut ties with the Brazillian, with a return to Everton or even a swap deal involving Ivan Toney having been speculated.

However, a lot of these decisions will likely depend on whether Ange Postecoglou remains at the club between now and May, with the Australian under severe pressure.
In other Tottenham news, Daniel Levy has been told to hire Massimiliano Allegri after a “monumental” update.
