Guglielmo Vicario blasted after ’embarrassing’ moment for Tottenham v Sheffield United
Bryan King has criticised Guglielmo Vicario after the Tottenham goalkeeper was involved in an “embarrassing” moment against Sheffield United.
The ex-Spurs scout believes that the Italy international has plenty of room for improvement ahead of next season.
Tottenham and Vicario ended the 2023/24 campaign with three points and a clean sheet following their 3-0 victory against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane (19 May).
But King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – was less than impressed after one incident involving the 27-year-old against the Blades.
“Vicario produced saves at important times during the game,” King said.
“One thing he does need to work on is taking more control at set-piece situations.
“His decision-making needs to improve because Sheffield United kept trying to unnerve him from corners and throw-ins, and he is going to continue being put under pressure next season.
“At one point he went down claiming he had been kicked in the box, that was embarrassing.”
Guglielmo Vicario can improve under Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham
Vicario has enjoyed a largely positive debut season in England.
He has produced some memorable saves and kept Tottenham in matches at times.
However, he has not been perfect.

There have been times when he has given goals away cheaply from set pieces, and the shot-stopper will be keen to improve on that ahead of his second season in the Premier League.
In other Tottenham news, the club have been urged to sign a player who would be “perfect” for Postecoglou.
