Francesco Farioli to Tottenham claim made after confirmed exit news

Daniel Levy will be weighing up a list of potential candidates to replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham amid confirmed exit news.

Postecoglou etched his name in the history books at Tottenham after winning the UEFA Europa League.

While Spurs’ 1-0 victory against Manchester United at the Estadio de San Mamés on Wednesday (21 May) will not be remembered for its football, Spurs fans will struggle to forget the night that ended their 17-year trophy drought.

However, when the highs of winning the Europa League begin to wilt, and all those associated with Tottenham return to earth, a potential 17th-placed Premier League finish will be glaring back at most.

Tottenham urged to avoid Francesco Farioli

Farioli made a huge impression with his methods at Ajax, but made a shock exit from the Dutch giants after an unbelievable title race collapse in the Eredivisie.

Ajax were nine points clear of PSV Eindhoven with five games left, but in a surprising twist of fate, PSV snatched the league title on the final day by a single point.

After leaving Ajax, Farioli could be available this summer, but Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Levy should avoid appointing the Italian.

“It would be a no for me on Farioli,” Wenham said.

“If he couldn’t win the league with Ajax and was beaten to it on the final day of the season by PSV Eindhoven, it is a no from me.

“I just think we can attract a far higher calibre of manager than somebody who walked out on Ajax because he didn’t win the title.”

Tottenham must accelerate preparations for the new season

With Tottenham set to compete in the UEFA Champions League next season, the North London club will need to improve their squad and make some big changes this summer.

As a result, this means giving Postecoglou or a new manager the time and resources to make a mark in the transfer window. Therefore, Levy needs to act fast and decide what the future holds for Tottenham.
