Finance Expert: Tottenham jump ahead of Manchester United already in new stadium verdict
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Tottenham...
Dan Plumley has insisted that Tottenham have jumped ahead of Manchester United in terms of stadiums with the comparison of Old Trafford.
The finance expert admitted that Spurs spent the same amount of money to build their new stadium that potential new owners are being quoted to fix Old Trafford up at the Red Devils.
Plumley insisted that the London club are really getting things right at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with the potential to make it “really lucrative”.

“Talking about the takeover at Manchester United,” he exclusively told Tottenham News.
“Despite their takeover price, there’s figures of whoever comes in has got to spend £1-2billion on Old Trafford, and Spurs’ cost £1billion so they’ve jumped ahead of Manchester United in a stadium point of view, so it’s a huge factor.
“The amount of money you can generate in other areas off the stadium, not just through the 19 home matches each year can be really lucrative and Spurs are definitely getting that right.”

The recently signed new deal with the NFL to become the home of American Football in England is the perfect example, with the agreement going on until the 2029/2030 season.
Spurs receive a flat fee for the rental of the stadium alone but also get handed the earnings from food, drink and merchandise bought inside the stadium.
This is looking like a real masterstroke already.
In other Tottenham news, one Spurs star shone during the club’s win over Sheffield United.
