Exclusive: Tottenham to ‘accept £5m bid to sell Richarlison’, agent at work

Daniel Levy could soon be forced to stomach a £55million loss on Tottenham striker Richarlison.

Spurs paid £60million to sign Richarlison from Everton in the summer of 2022.

However, the Brazilian has failed to live up to his price tag, spending large periods of his time in North London sidelined with various injury issues, while his goal record when he has played isn’t exactly anything to write home about.

As a result, it looks as though Richarlison’s time with Tottenham is nearing its end.

However, any hopes of recouping much of the £60m the club paid for the 27-year-old seem all but gone.

Tottenham ‘to sell Richarlison for just £5million’

As reported by The Mirror (2 March), Tottenham are set to pass up on their option to sign Timo Werner permanently from RB Leipzig for £8.5million.

In addition, the report goes on to state that Richarlison’s Spurs future will be reassessed at the end of the season

However, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – doesn’t think Spurs will be able to sell the forward for much more than £5-10million.

“I’d be quite pleased to see him moved on and new players brought in,” King said.

“I think any money that they could get for Richarlison would be welcomed. They brought him for a lot of money, they’re going to lose money on him, that is for sure.

Richarlison’s record for Tottenham is underwhelming

“I can’t see Tottenham getting much more than a figure of £5/10million. Who is going to pay big money for him? They should’ve cut their losses before, for me it has been poor business. For all those clubs who were supposedly interested in the summer, nobody stepped in and brought him.

“Therefore, I think that was his agent at work.”

Tottenham must accept their loss on Richarlison and move on

Spurs have become used to losing high-value assets for very little in recent years, with big-money signing Tanguy Ndombele being released while Giovani Lo Celso was sold for next to nothing.

Therefore, losing another big-money signing for almost nothing will be painful to stomach.

However, paying Richarlison’s wages for another year would represent even more of a financial loss. The player clearly has no future at the club, is unlikely to be offered a new contract, and it is therefore time to move on.
