Exclusive: Tottenham star Ivan Perisic set for Hajduk Split reunion in the summer

Ivan Perisic is poised to make an emotional return to Croatia and reunite with his boyhood club Hajduk Split next summer, sources have told Tottenham News.

A source close to Perisic has told Tottenham News that the Croatian winger, 34, will return to his native country in the summer in what will be the perfect end to his storybook career.

Perisic is currently recovering from a serious knee injury which has kept him out of action since September.

It is an injury which has effectively ruled him out for the rest of the season, and Tottenham News was recently told that due to the nature of his injury, the 34-year-old faces a long road to recovery and has therefore already played his final match in a Spurs shirt.

In total, Perisic has made 50 appearances for Tottenham since signing a two-year deal with the club in the summer of 2022, scoring one goal and providing 14 assists in all competitions throughout that time.

However, he will not extend his deal, which is set to expire this summer, and will instead likely return to Hajduk Split, who currently have a six-point lead at the top of the Croatian Football League.

Perisic began his footballing journey in Hajduk Split’s youth ranks before leaving his home country and embarking on an impressive career which saw him play for European heavyweights such as Inter Milan and Bayern Munich, and win various honours including the German title, Italian title and Champions League.

While his time with Tottenham wasn’t a large success, he performed well during his first season and proved to be a useful squad player for Ange Postecoglou in the limited time that he featured under the Australian.

In other Tottenham news, one 42 per cent star must improve or face the axe ahead of the clash with Everton after an injury update for the Toffees.
