Exclusive: Tottenham ready to offer Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Fulham in player-plus-cash deal for Tosin Adarabioyo

Tottenham are ready to offer Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Fulham as part of a player-plus-cash deal to sign defender Tosin Adarabioyo in January, Tottenham News has been told.

Injuries to first-team centre-back pairing Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven leave Ange Postecoglou’s side very light at the back.

Postecoglou recently revealed that signing a new centre-back is a “priority” for him in the upcoming January transfer window (Sky Sports News, 15 December).

A recruitment source with links to Spurs has told Tottenham News that the north London side are readying a player-plus-cash deal to sign Adarabioyo from Fulham, in a deal which would see Hojbjerg head the other way.

Adarabioyo has just six months left on his contract at Craven Cottage and Marco Silva’s side are wary of losing the 26-year-old for free next summer.

The centre-back has started the club’s last five league matches after recovering from a groin injury which required surgery and had kept him out of action since August.

Tottenham News understands that Fulham could be tempted by the offer due to their long-standing interest in Hojbjerg, who turned down a move to the Cottagers last summer (Daily Mail, 1 September).

Hojbjerg joined Tottenham from Southampton in 2020 in a deal worth £15million (Sky Sports News, 12 August), and was a key player for the club under the likes of Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.

He has made 164 appearances in a Spurs shirt and started all 38 of their league matches in his debut season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, the Denmark international has seen his role in the first-team reduced this year under Postecoglou, starting just five matches in all competitions, and he could therefore look to quit Tottenham in search of more regular first-team football.

In other Tottenham news, Postecoglou’s recent admission could open the door for one rarely-seen Spurs man to get more minutes in January.
