Ex-Tottenham scout slams ‘Worrying’ Radu Dragusin after what he did v Fulham

Ex-Tottenham scout Bryan King has criticised Radu Dragusin for the defender’s “worrying” performance against Fulham.

Tottenham turned in perhaps their most disappointing display of the season as they were beaten 3-0 by Marco Silva’s side at Craven Cottage on Saturday (16 March).

Micky van de Ven was unavailable for the clash after going off injured in Spurs’ 4-0 victory against Aston Villa at Villa Park (10 March), with Dragusin replacing the Dutchman to make his first start since arriving in North London.

However, it was a match the Romanian will want to quickly put behind him, with King less than impressed by the 22-year-old’s performance in West London.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, King said: “I wasn’t convinced by Dragusin, he wasn’t up to the pace of the game at all.

“He doesn’t look elegant at all, not like van de Ven. His movement worried me, he defended square on and he kept getting caught ball-watching.

He was badly at fault for the third goal, he reacted so slowly. He was watching the ball and by the time he reacted, Rodrigo Muniz had put it in the back of the net.

“It was the same for Muniz’s first goal, he was looking at where the ball was coming from, he wasn’t aware of what was around him. Muniz was much smarter than Dragusin with his movement off him.

Radu Dragusin will need time to find his feet under Ange Postecoglou at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

A player’s debut for their new club is supposed to be a day that they will cherish and remember forever.

Unfortunately for Dragusin, rather than cherish his Spurs debut, he must now do everything in his power to move past it.

While his performance was not a positive one, Spurs supporters must be sure to show patience with the centre-back.

He is still incredibly young and the outing against Fulham was his first real experience of Premier League football.

Dragusin’s confident display when he came off the bench at Villa Park demonstrates there is a player within him, and fans should wait a little longer before making a full judgement.
