Ex-Tottenham employee speculates multi-million Tanguy Ndombele loss as newspaper story emerges

Ex-Tottenham employee Bryan King believes Daniel Levy is set to lose at least £53million on Tanguy Ndombele after an update emerged on the midfielder’s future.

Spurs signed Ndombele from Ligue 1 outfit Lyon for a club-record fee of £63million (Sky Sports News, 2 July 2019).

It has been a five-year spell to forget for all parties involved, with Ndombele currently playing his football on loan with Galatasaray in Turkey.

And as per the Sunday People (page 55, 31 March), the Super Lig side will not be triggering their £13million buy-option to make the Frenchman’s transfer permanent.

Ndomeble will have just 12 months left on his Spurs contract when he returns to North London, and King has shared his verdict on what is next for the 27-year-old.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, King said: “This was a case of some very bad recruitment. They spent £63million on him, which is an awful lot of money to waste.

“If they’re going to cut their losses, they need to cut them as soon as possible. The longer Ndombele is at the club, the more money they are losing on him.

“I am sure there will be a club out there who will take him, but it is hard to see Tottenham getting much more than £10million for him.”

Tanguy Ndombele has no future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium under Ange Postecoglou

There is no way back for Ndombele at Tottenham.

It will not be a case of seeing how the midfielder fares in pre-season. His time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is well and truly over.

With that in mind, Levy must accept he is not going to recoup anywhere near the £63million he paid for him back in 2019, and the Spurs chairman should accept the first offer he receives.

Tottenham, Tanguy Ndombele

Getting Ndombele off the books should be a priority, and unfortunately, Tottenham will need to stomach whatever the loss is.
