Emerson Royal ready to quit Tottenham amid AC Milan transfer update
John Wenham believes Emerson Royal would happily quit Tottenham to join AC Milan.
The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose feels that the right-back isn’t suited to Ange Postecoglou’s style of play.
It comes after Emerson’s agent, Stefano Castagna, held a meeting with AC Milan (via Luca Bendoni, 27 May).
And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – can see a deal getting done.
“AC Milan seem to have a bit of money to spend now,” Wenham said.
“Emerson just isn’t suited to Postecoglou’s system, and as a result, I think it would be sensible to move him on.
“I am sure he would be open to the switch and would probably view it as a step up from Tottenham.
“AC Milan are a massive club who have had some of the best Brazilians of all time play for them, so I am sure he would go for it.”
Ange Postecoglou likely to allow Emerson Royal to leave Tottenham
Postecoglou is unlikely to stand in the way of Emerson leaving.
The 25-year-old has hardly featured this season and isn’t a major part of the Australian’s first-team plans.
Selling Emerson and reinvesting that money into a player more suited to Postecoglou’s system would represent a smart bit of business.
As for the player himself, he is likely keen to play more regularly next season.
And a move to Milan would surely be attractive due to the size and stature of the club.
