Douglas Luiz ‘unhappy’ at Juventus amid Tottenham transfer update
Tottenham have been credited with an interest in Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz.
That is according to a report from Tutto Juve (8 January), which states that Spurs, Arsenal and Manchester United are all on the former Aston Villa star’s trail, a transfer rumour which has Fabio Paratici’s fingerprints all over it.
Ange Postecoglou remains under pressure in North London and could use some additions in January, with Daniel Levy having already proven that he is ready to strengthen the squad after what he did recently.
However, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – doesn’t think that another midfielder is needed, despite suggesting that Luiz might be unhappy in Turin.
“Luiz has proven that he can play in the Premier League,” King said.
“It seems as though he is unhappy at Juventus, who currently aren’t in a position which they’re used to being in, considering they’re such a top team in Italy. At this moment in time, they seem to be a pretty average team.
“Whether Luiz would want to come back to the Premier League, that would depend on what club are going to sign him. However, I do feel as though Spurs have enough midfield players at the moment. I don’t think they need Luiz.”
Tottenham to avoid signing Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz?
It is fair to say that a lot of Villa supporters wouldn’t have been very pleased when Luiz moved to Juventus. He was one of the club’s most important players, and although he has struggled since the move, there is no doubt quality there.
As a result, a lot of Spurs supporters would likely welcome the Brazillian to North London with open arms. However, midfield isn’t a position which Postecoglou necessarily needs strengthening.

Therefore, while a transfer might be achievable, and while Luiz is no doubt a brilliant player, Spurs might be better off spending their money elsewhere.
