Dominic Solanke told to join Tottenham after what’s happened at Bournemouth
Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke has been told by Alan Hutton that a summer transfer to Tottenham is the right “next step” to take in his career.
The 26-year-old was in electric form for the Cherries last season, scoring 19 goals and laying on three assists in his 38 Premier League appearances to help Andoni Iraola’s side finish 12th in the table, 22 points off of the drop zone.
Solanke’s excellent form is believed to have caught the eye of a number of teams in the Premier League, with Ange Postecoglou’s Lilywhites reportedly considering a summer swoop to take him away from the South Coast [talkSPORT, 21 May].
While it remains to be seen if the former Chelsea man would be interested in making the switch to East London this summer, Hutton admits that he thinks he could replace Harry Kane as Spurs’ 20-goal-a-season striker.
“I think he could fill that role,” Hutton told Tottenham News.
“He’s had an outstanding season. He’s not made it into the England squad which he’s probably a little bit down about, but he scores goals, he holds the ball up, he links the play and he’s confident.
“Having come through at Chelsea, he’s moved on and he’s really thrived at Bournemouth. He’s done really well and this is probably the next step for him to go to a team like Tottenham where he will be loved and he’ll get that chance to go and play with freedom.
“He’d probably fit into that system very well in my opinion. Dejan Kulusevski played there against Sheffield United and scored two goals, Son looked electric out on the left so they have got options within there.
“So I think him coming into that squad could be that guy who is going to score the 20-plus goals that you need.”
Will Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou sign Dominic Solanke in the summer transfer window?
Postecoglou is expected to make a number of changes to his Spurs squad this summer and while it remains unclear whether Solanke is a genuine target, the Liywhites are expected to be in the market for a new number nine.

Richarlison has been linked with a move away from North London and while Timo Werner has been signed for a another season on loan from RB Leipzig, he is expected to offer a rotation option out wide rather than as a number nine.
Therefore, the centre-forward role could well be up for grabs once again in North London and Solanke would be guaranteed a starting role at the top of the Premier League and the Europa League next season.
If Spurs do come knocking this summer, you’d have to imagine the 26-year-old would be interested in making the switch.
