Dominic Solanke ‘to prevent £50m Tottenham transfer’

Dominic Solanke could stand in the way of Tottenham signing one of their targets this summer.

It has been a difficult season in North London, with Ange Postecoglou expected to be sacked as a result.

Therefore, it could be yet another summer of rebuilding at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a new manager in the dugout, which would mean players both leaving and joining the Lilywhites.

However, one Premier League target is expected to refuse a move to Spurs due to Solanke.

Solanke ‘to remain number-one choice striker at Tottenham’

It has been a difficult first season in North London for Solanke, with a potential Tottenham exit mooted.

However, it is believed that the 27-year-old will remain at Spurs, although the North London club are still likely to be in the market for a new striker with Richarlison expected to leave.

Richarlison’s time with Tottenham has been a disappointment

This would explain the interest in Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz, with GiveMeSport reporting (7 April) that Tottenham are thinking about making a move for the 23-year-old.

Fulham want to keep hold of the Brazillian and value him at £50million. However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that even if Muniz was allowed to leave Fulham, he wouldn’t join Tottenham.

“His goal against Liverpool recently was fantastic,” Wenham said.

“I would like him at Tottenham. However, I don’t see him coming to a club that already invested big money in a striker just last summer. I believe that Solanke will be our first-choice striker next season.

“Therefore, I think Muniz would prefer to go somewhere where he would be the number one striker or to a club who have European football and will be rotating more often. It doesn’t look like Spurs will be able to offer that next season.”

Tottenham must keep faith in Solanke

It doesn’t make any sense for Spurs to spend big money on a striker this summer.

Despite a difficult season overall, Solanke has displayed signs of promise. Therefore, with a new manager and under better circumstances, the England international could shine next season.

As a result, Levy should look to spend big money elsewhere on the squad.
