Doctor issues injury update on Tottenham striker Richarlison post his surgery

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Tottenham Hotspur...

Tottenham striker Richarlison does not face an immediate risk of re-injury after his groin surgery, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert has reacted to Ange Postecoglou issuing a positive training update about the Brazilian as he’s completed his rehabilitation.

The groin issue was bothering the 26-year-old for a while and getting operated on seemed to be the best way to alleviate his pain.

Discussing the state of play with Richarlison exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:

It’s very good news for the player and club as it seems the surgery helped alleviate an issue he was managing and playing through for quite some time.

The key will be continuing to manage his minutes until he’s at full fitness.

While there are no immediate risks of re-injury, it’s always that needs to be considered but he does seem ready to play close to full intensity.

While Richarlison is yet to play the full 90 minutes after he’s returned from surgery, he has got his goal-scoring touch back.

The Brazilian has bagged three goals in his last two games against Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest.

This has coincided with Spurs returning to winning ways as well and Postecoglou will be hoping that he can help shoulder Son Heung-min’s goal-scoring burden this season.

Thus far, Richarlison has scored four goals and provided three assists in 14 Premier League matches.
