Delap in fresh Tottenham transfer claim after what has happened with Solanke
Tottenham will be well aware of the need to recruit well this season, with Liam Delap among those linked with a move to North London.
Tottenham’s main focus for now will be on the Europa League after their 1-1 draw with Frankfurt, though attention will swiftly turn to the summer transfer window immediately after.
Not only does Ange Postecoglou’s job hinge on their ability to win the competition, but their recruitment plans may also.
Dominic Solanke unlikely to be replaced at Tottenham
Dominic Solanke has had a troubled season with Tottenham, but given the fee paid to Bournemouth, it’s unlikely that Spurs will give up on him this early.
Delap had been mooted for a switch to Tottenham, but Paul Robinson can’t see it happening based on two factors.
Speaking to Tottenham News, he said: “I don’t think Tottenham will pay the fee that would be required to take him away because of other teams looking at him. And I don’t think it’s an area of the pitch that Tottenham will look at.
“Dominic Solanke was the marquee signing. He’s been hampered by injuries this season. He’s not played probably as much as he wanted to. And I don’t think that’s an area that Tottenham will go and look to invest heavily in.

“There are other areas of the pitch where investment would be a lot more wisely spent, if you like. The squad needs strength. And again, there’s a lot of ifs and buts with Tottenham. It depends on who’s in charge next season. If Ange Postecoglou doesn’t win the Europa League, it’s highly likely he’s not going to be there.
“So most teams do play one up front. But with the club paying what they pay for Dominic Solanke, they’re not going to go and replicate that price tag on another player 12 months later.”
Solanke could be ready for redemption next season
Solanke has a lot of quality, but for one reason or another, it hasn’t prevailed often enough for Spurs this season.
Whether that be down to the system under Postecoglou or other factors, he still has something to offer, though he will need someone to compete with him for the starting role next season.
