Daniel Levy waiting for ‘top dollar’ offer for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg transfer as January Tottenham update emerges

Daniel Levy will “stick to his guns” and wait for a “top-dollar” offer before allowing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to depart Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window, according to Alan Hutton.
Tottenham News has been told that the Danish international will not be offered a new contract in North London, with Spurs still expecting to earn a reasonable fee for his services in the summer if they can’t sell him this month.
Reports suggest that a January deal to see Hojbjerg leave Tottenham could well head down to the final days of the window, as Spurs are not willing to accept a cut-price fee for his services, despite interest from Serie A [Sky Sports, 16 January].
While Hutton understands why Levy isn’t particularly keen to take a financial hit on the 28-year-old he thinks an offer of around £15million could tempt Spurs into selling in the final moments of the January window.
“He’ll probably stick to his guns I would imagine,” Hutton told Tottenham News.
“I’ve known him for a long time now and know what he’s like and he very rarely deviates from what he wants so it can be difficult at times. But look, he’s a businessman and I totally understand it.
“If he’s paid top dollar for somebody, he wants it back which is totally understandable but I think we’ll have to wait and see what money comes in for him.
“I think if you can get upwards of £10million-plus, £15million or up there I think that could be a good deal.”
Hojbjerg has been little more than a rotation option under Postecoglou and while he has made 20 appearances in the Premier League, the Danish international has only been named in the starting XI on five occasions without picking up a single goal or assist.
Postecoglou has preferred a defensive midfield pairing of two of Pape Sarr, Rodrigo Bentancur or Yves Bissouma for much of the season so far, with Oliver Skipp also sitting ahead of Hojbjerg in the pecking order as a rotation option.
It seems unlikely that the 28-year-old will be a Tottenham player for too much longer, however, it does remain to be seen whether or not any clubs will be willing to match Levy’s asking price before the end of transfer deadline day.
One thing’s for sure and that is that the Spurs chairman is unlikely to budge.
