Daniel Levy told to make Ange Postecoglou statement after Tottenham v Wolves

Daniel Levy will have to decide if he wants to stick by Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham.

Postecoglou was let down by one big-name player as Spurs drew 2-2 with Wolves in the Premier League at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (29 December).

Ahead of kick-off in North London, the Australian was told to leave the club after a decision he made with his starting lineup.

And with pressure mounting, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has urged Levy to make his official stance on Postecoglou clear.

“It seems as though the clock is ticking for Postecoglou,” King said.

“Spurs do not look like a good team. You saw with Wolves the impact of a new manager coming in, what a start he has made at the club. I’m beginning to wonder where the line is going to be drawn with Postecoglou.

“Results have not been positive over the past couple of months. There is always pressure on managers, of course. What we need is a justified statement from the chairman, otherwise this uncertainty will continue. If Levy is happy with Postecoglou, and he isn’t going to be sacked, come out and make that statement.”

Daniel Levy to sack Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham?

It seems for now as though Postecoglou has the backing of those higher up at Tottenham [via the Daily Mail, 28 December]. However, if results don’t improve soon, that could soon change.

Therefore, Postecoglou will be desperate to turn things around, and the only way to do that is to start winning games, regardless of what the injury situation is.

However, Levy could certainly make things easier for his manager by clearing the air. All the constant speculation must be annoying for Postecoglou, and although it is part of football, it can’t be making things any easier in North London.

Therefore, if Levy was to make an official statement backing the manager, that could lift some of the pressure off Postecoglou’s shoulders and allow him to focus on the task at hand.
