Daniel Levy ‘to sack Johan Lange after embarrassing’ Tottenham transfer incident
Daniel Levy could soon decide to sack Johan Lange after the Tottenham technical director was left humiliated in January.
Ange Postecoglou’s side have struggled massively this season, with the Australian now under serious pressure and potentially days away from being sacked by Levy.
However, it might not just be Postecoglou who is shown his marching orders.
Spurs supporters were unhappy with the club’s lack of transfer activity in the winter window, especially considering the number of injuries within the squad.
While Levy takes a lot of the criticism, he isn’t alone in this, with Lange also coming under fire as of late.
Fans have called for Lange to be sacked after his comments about the winter transfer window, and it looks like Levy might finally be ready to pull the trigger, with one incident perhaps the nail in the coffin.
Lange to be sacked after transfer failure in January
Spurs eventually got a deal across the line for Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel with little time to spare in the winter transfer window.
The 19-year-old initially rejected a move to Tottenham before signing a loan deal until the end of the season, which includes an option to make the Frenchman’s stay permanent.
And Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has commented on how Postecoglou and Levy were forced to clear up the mess left behind by Lange.
“This season has been an absolute disaster,” Wenham said.
Tottenham signings in winter transfer window | Date |
Antonín Kinský | 5 January |
Kevin Danso | 2 February |
Mathys Tel | 3 February |
“Therefore, I wouldn’t say it is without possibility that Lange could be relieved of his duties very quickly at the end of the season. His credibility is pretty low at the moment.
“Daniel Levy and Postecoglou had to get involved to get a deal done for Tel after Lange failed originally. It is embarrassing. As a result, I wouldn’t be surprised if the people who have been involved with recent failures, except the ownership, are removed at the end of the season, and that includes Lange.”

Tottenham must make major changes this summer
While it is hard to pinpoint exactly what the problem is, it is clear that things haven’t worked for Tottenham this season.
Had the club brought in some reinforcement sooner, they might have been able to turn things around in January. However, it wasn’t until late in the window that Kevin Danso and Tel were added to the squad.
Therefore, if Lange is at fault, he deserves to be sacked. However, one thing is for sure, major changes are needed to turn things around next season.
