Daniel Levy plan for Julian Brandt transfer at Tottenham mooted

Tottenham are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund star Julian Brandt.

That is according to FootballTransfers [21 December], who report that Ange Postecoglou’s side have set their sights on bringing the German international to North London in January.

Postecoglou is in desperate need of new signings with the odds having been slashed on the Australian being sacked as Spurs boss after back-to-back Premier League defeats.

However, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – expects Levy to wait until the summer when Brandt is out of contract to sign the 28-year-old for free.

“He’s a good player, Brandt,” King said.

“We’re talking about a quality player, a German international. If Spurs have the chance to sign him, and he wants to come to England, then they should absolutely do it. It’s a shame they can’t bring him in this January.

“I would certainly be looking for Spurs to be signing somebody of that quality. However, we’re talking about Mr. Levy here. If he can get a player for free, he will wait.”

Daniel Levy to wait on Julian Brandt transfer at Tottenham?

If Levy does decide to wait to save some money, supporters would have every right to be angry at the chairman.

Postecoglou needs new signings now, with the Australian’s squad running on fumes after an extraordinary amount of injury in recent weeks. Therefore, if there is an opportunity to sign a quality player like Brandt, the club should be all over it.

Levy is making more than enough money at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with another big payday having been lined up.

As a result, there is absolutely no reason why Spurs shouldn’t be able to sign a player with six months left on his contract in January, and if Postecoglou wants Brandt, then a deal must be struck.

In other Tottenham news, Massimiliano Allegri could be ready to turn the tide in North London if Postecoglou is sacked.
