Daniel Levy ‘not wrong’ as he hits back at Tottenham fans with £700m reveal

Daniel Levy will never be popular at Tottenham, he has done that to himself.

After releasing their latest accounts this week, Levy hit back at fan complaints by revealing that Spurs have invested over £700million net on player acquisitions since 2019.

Despite this, Tottenham are still sitting in 14th in the Premier League, with fans left more than outraged by the attempt to save face from the chairman.

Levy outrages Tottenham fans yet again

Dan Plumley admitted that Levy wasn’t wrong to point out the numbers, but did counter that with the lack of success in North London getting longer.

The football finance expert admitted that qualifying for Europe is a minimum for Tottenham, but Levy hasn’t been able to guarantee that with poor investment on the pitch.

“I mean, he’s not wrong from a numbers sense,” Plumley exclusively told Tottenham News.

“Those numbers are out there, and if he’s quoting those numbers and that’s what their net spend is accumulatively, then that’s what it is.

I think the reality of it is some of those transfers have not worked out as they have hoped, and they’ve had years where they’ve missed out on Europe, which has been the benchmark.

They need to be qualifying for Europe, at least, if not better than that, and we’re talking as they are 14th in the Premier League and hinging everything on the Europa League that they’re still in.

The numbers are there, and I understand the positioning of them, but some of those transfers have not worked, and the fans will have been expecting European qualification at least; that is the minimum for Spurs.

“It hasn’t been there for some of those years, so that is what will upset the fans within that, it’s not the fact that they haven’t spent money, it’s just not worked out.”

Ange Postecoglou to pay the price

It’s looking more likely by the day that Postecoglou will be sacked by Levy and Tottenham, regardless of any upcoming success in the Europa League.

Spurs are currently 14th in the Premier League, which is unacceptable, regardless of the circumstances.

The Australian admitted it wasn’t his job to build bridges with the fans, which was stupid to say, given the disconnect and his recent antics on the sideline with them.
