Daniel Levy ‘makes Postecoglou sack decision’ after Tottenham v Frankfurt

Daniel Levy has made a decision on Ange Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham after the draw with Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday.

Postecoglou’s side were held to a 1-1 draw by Frankfurt at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 10 April in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League last-eight tie against the German club.

It was a mixed night for Spurs’ players, with James Maddison blasted after Hugo Ekitike gave Frankfurt the lead in the sixth minute.

However, the midfielder made amends, setting up Pedro Porro’s beautiful equaliser 20 minutes later.

Meanwhile, Lucas Bergvall was quite influential on the night and unlucky not to score, with Glen Hoddle full of praise for the Swede.

However, this result is now in the past, and all focus will be on the second leg at Deutsche Bank Park on Thursday (17 April), with Levy already deciding on Postecoglou’s future ahead of that match.

Levy ‘makes Postecoglou sack decision at Tottenham’

It has been a difficult season for Postecoglou, who has been hampered by injuries at Tottenham, with the Australian providing the latest on Dejan Kulusevski after the draw with Frankfurt.

However, the 59-year-old hasn’t exactly helped himself either, constantly clashing with Tottenham supporters in North London, and Levy is thought to have decided on Postecoglou’s position.

Postecoglou’s fate could be decided by Spurs’ progress in the Europa League

That is according to Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – who believes Postecoglou will be sacked if Spurs don’t reach the last four of the Europa League.

“That first half in particular was very low quality from both sides,” Wenham said.

“In the second half, we created enough chances to win the match. Therefore, it is frustrating that we didn’t. I thought Frankfurt were quite defensive, and we perhaps overrated them going into the game.

“However, I still think it will take some performance in Germany for Tottenham to advance, and I do think Levy will sack Postecoglou if we don’t get past Frankfurt.

Frankfurt v Tottenham is make or break for Postecoglou

If Spurs are eliminated from Europe, they will have nothing left to play for and could finish the season in the bottom half of the Premier League without a trophy.

If that is the case, it would be difficult to see why Postecoglou would be kept on. Therefore, it looks as though the Frankfurt clash is make or break, which means the ex-Celtic manager is bound to feel plenty of pressure on the flight to Germany next week.
