Dane Scarlett tipped to quit Tottenham in summer with transfer options to consider
Dane Scarlett might look to make a full exit from Tottenham this summer because of a lack of first-team opportunities, Alan Hutton has said.
The 19-year-old striker was recalled from a loan spell at Championship side Ipswich Town in January having failed to start a game in the league and not registering a goal in 12 substitute appearances.
Since being brought back to the club, Scarlett has appeared off the bench in the 3-1 Premier League win over Crystal Palace on 2 March and a couple of FA Cup matches.
However, Hutton thinks that the fact Spurs have such a stacked front line means Scarlett could be looking around at other opportunities this summer.
The former Spurs defender told Tottenham News: “It’s an interesting one, you obviously bring him back and you think right this is an opportunity.
“Then you don’t play, obviously you want to come back you want to be involved in the Tottenham first team you want to prove you’re more than capable.
“I just think at this moment in time he won’t be. He won’t push in front of the likes of Son Heung-min if he plays there, Richarlison, these kind of guys, Timo Werner who can go further up the pitch.
“You feel for him because there’s always going to be hard but I think if you’ve shown you’re good enough then you will play under Ange and it’s not happening at this moment in time so he might be looking towards his future come the end of this season.”
Will Dane Scarlett leave Tottenham?
You would have to say at this juncture there is a distinct possibility that the teenager opts to leave the club this summer.
Once tipped as a potential successor to Kane, Scarlett has – as yet – not managed to break into the first-team picture and did not exactly set the world alight in loan spells with Portsmouth and Ipswich.

Right now, you have to say that his path to the first team looks a little blocked, even accounting for the fact that Kane departed for Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window.
He is still young enough, of course, to prove his worth to Tottenham, but he might be best served looking for a home where he can play week in and week out.
In other Tottenham news, Ange Postecoglou will be concerned by what he saw versus Fulham.
