Cristian Romero injury twist emerges for AZ Alkmaar v Tottenham
Tottenham defender Cristian Romero is currently ruled out with a Grade 3 muscular injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that thus far there is no guaranteed timeline as to when he can start with minimal injury risk, given how long he’s been ruled out.
The Argentina international has been unavailable since the 3-4 defeat to Chelsea back in December.

Ange Postecoglou unlikely to have Cristian Romero back for Tottenham v AZ Alkmaar
With the 26-year-old out now for nearly three months, it is going to take him a while before he’s ready to start games.
Even for the clash against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League on 6 March, he’s not expected to be ready.
The only way Ange Postecoglou will be able to select him is if the Argentina international is back in full first-team training a few days before the contest.
Discussing the state of play with Romero exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, shared his verdict.
“This sounds like a Grade 3 muscular injury but the tricky part is how much time he’s missed this season and if this is a re-injury,” he said.
“There’s no guaranteed timeline for when he will be able to start with minimal injury risk, it all just comes down to how he responds to bounce matches and consistent minutes in matches.
“I think it’s still unlikely he’s back in time for the next one. If he is to be fit, he’ll need at least three to four days of full first-team training.“

Kevin Danso and Archie Gray may be the starting centre-back pair against AZ Alkmaar
Given Dr Brar’s assessment of Romero, he is not expected to be back in time for Thursday’s European clash.
This means that Kevin Danso and Archie Gray might have to start again as they did against Manchester City on Wednesday.
Stats (Premier League 24/25) | Cristian Romero |
Matches | 12 |
Tackles per 90 minutes | 2.3 |
Interceptions per 90 minutes | 2.4 |
Yellow cards | 1 |
As his stats suggest, Romero is an integral part of the Spurs setup and his absence is a huge miss for them.
However, Danso and Gray have prove that they can do a good job and Postecoglou will expect them to do well in Europe too.
