Cristian Romero exit verdict emerges after Tottenham ace was spotted with Pep Guardiola
John Wenham believes Tottenham supporters shouldn’t read too much into the conversation between Cristian Romero and Pep Guardiola.
The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose claims that managers would never look to tap a player up on the pitch.
It comes after Romero and the City boss were spotted chatting following Spurs’ 2-0 defeat to Manchester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday 14 May (via Football London, 15 May).
But Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes this was nothing more than a friendly conversation between two professionals.
“Guardiola is very famous all around the world, and players will be keen to speak with him,” Wenham said.
“I’m sure he was just complimenting Romero on his performance or something along those lines
“I wouldn’t read anything into that. A manager would never look to tap a player up on the pitch.
“Players have lots of different ways of talking to people through their agents and other channels.”
Could Manchester City look to move for Tottenham defender Cristian Romero?
Romero is one of the Premier League’s top centre-backs.
If Guardiola was looking to sign him, it wouldn’t be a surprise.
However, the Argentina international is under contract with Spurs until 2027.

Therefore, should clubs come sniffing around the 26-year-old, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will feel very confident of at least commanding a big fee for the World Cup winner.
