Cristian Romero exit fear detailed as Tottenham exit rumour grows stronger
Tottenham Hotspur have been defensively suspect all season, but have spent a large part of the campaign without their two first-choice centre-halves.
Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have each missed a sustained spell this term, with the duo both vital to Ange Postecoglou’s backline.
The Premier League season has been long over for Spurs, who take on Liverpool on Sunday and will hand them the league title with anything less than victory at Anfield (27 April).
Romero and van de Ven, however, have been linked with moves away.

Romero ‘fear’ revealed as agent talks up van de Ven move
Romero has been at loggerheads with the Tottenham Hotspur fans this season, with many ready to see the back of him in the summer.
He has been heavily linked with a lucrative switch to Real Madrid, and has been accused of putting his aspirations with Argentina before any care towards Spurs.
TV commentator Ian Darke, speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, believes Romero’s mind has drifted elsewhere, and that Spurs fans are right to “fear” where his priorities lie.
“You do fear for where Romero’s mind is. Tottenham just need him to keep pulling it out in the Europa League,” Darke said.
The football analysis expert also discussed van de Ven, whose agent stirred matters recently over being of the standard required to play for the 15-time European champions.
Darke, however, disagrees they would be interested in the Dutch international, citing a plethora of defensive options at the Bernabeu.
“Van de Ven I wouldn’t imagine is high on Real Madrid’s list – it’s probably just agent talk. Real have had players missing and when everyone’s fit, they have options which would make it hard for van de Ven to get regular games.
“The consequence of having the season they’re having is potentially losing their best players. But with Real Madrid in terms of defensive options, I don’t see them in a tearing rush for centre-halves like those two.”

Tottenham Hotspur squad could look very different next season
Tottenham are under massive pressure to invest this summer, both in the squad and coaching departments.
Daniel Levy knows the vitriol will reach unprecedented levels next season if Spurs have failed to win the Europa League, consequently not in Europe in 2025-26 and with some of their big hitters having left.

Spurs supporters appear to have accepted the likes of Romero have one foot through the exit door, but all they ask is for three more competitive performances for the remainder of their European journey.
