Brooklyn Earick saga leaves questions at Tottenham as £4.5bn ‘starting point’ emerges for takeover
Brooklyn Earick’s attempt to buy Tottenham has been both eventful and brief in recent weeks.
The American businessman had emerged as a potential suitor to buy the Lilywhites, and was willing to splash out an eye-watering £4.5billion in what would have been a record sale.
Earick has now concluded his pursuit of Tottenham after he confirmed to the London Stock Exchange that he would not be making a concrete offer to buy the club earlier this week.
However, there are still plenty of questions that remain regarding the situation behind the scenes at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as Earick’s potential bid could have moved the goalposts for Spurs’ valuation.

Tottenham sale would likely exceed £4.5bn
Earick’s pursuit of Tottenham stopped short of a firm offer being made to the Lewis family, who still remain adamant that they have no intention of selling their controlling stake.
There is also interest from the likes of Amanda Staveley and her PIF International investment group, but there appears to be little temptation for the owners to even entertain a deal.
They have since injected another £100million into the club in recent days, which is another likely sign that they have no plans to make an exit.
- Earick’s proposal comprised of £3.3bn to buy the club, and a further £1.2bn to be invested into the squad
- He has since declined the opportunity to make a firm offer to buy Spurs
- Staveley and her group have also expressed their interest in a deal previously
With that in mind, finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that the figure that Earick was prepared to pay is likely to become the minimum for any future prospective buyers.
“A total package of £4.5bn would have been a very good figure, had that deal come to pass,” Plumley said.
“It’s a valuation that I think Spurs will be in and around. That’s the starting point for me. It’s whether someone’s actually prepared to follow up on that, and then whether the Lewis family are prepared to sell for that price.

“Is the club really for sale? They keep saying no, but what’s an offer that would draw them into a conversation?”
Lewis family sale may not help Spurs
Tottenham fans have been frustrated with their current regime for several years now, as the success on the commercial side of the club simply hasn’t translated into the desired success on the pitch.
However, given some of the owners that we are now seeing in the Premier League, that could easily end up worse off if the club fell into different hands.
There are several fanbases around the top flight that feel as though they no longer have a voice at their club, and that could easily become the case for Spurs.
The Lewis family certainly have their flaws in terms of the way that they choose to manage the club, but the grass may not necessarily be greener for Tottenham if they were sold.
