Alan Hutton thinks the pace of Newcastle United’s attack might cause problems for the high line employed Tottenham in a match where he expects “fireworks”.
Spurs are in desperate need of a result after a 2-1 loss at home to West Ham on Thursday (7 December) made it five straight games in which they took the lead and failed to win, losing four of those and drawing the other 3-3 with Manchester City.
Newcastle visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (10 December) themselves reeling from a 3-0 reverse at Everton but only two places and one point separate the two sides (Spurs are fifth, Newcastle seventh).
Former Tottenham defender Hutton thinks Ange Postecoglou’s side have the ability to end their rut but thinks it is a difficult game to predict.
Speaking to Tottenham News, he said: “I think to be honest with you, every game I look at at this moment in time that Spurs are in has got fireworks all over it.
“I mean you’ve seen the Chelsea game, the Man City game, even Villa, all the games have been kind of fireworks so I expect that to be the exact same.
“All out attack, from Spurs obviously a high line, opportunities to attack for Newcastle going forward they’ve obviously got pace up front.
“So, I mean this could be another one that could be goals galore really. I’d like to say that Tottenham will come out on top because they’re at home but again you just never know.”
