BBC Sport pundit predicts Tottenham v Bournemouth outcome in Premier League showdown

We’re delighted to welcome former Scotland right-back Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium…

Alan Hutton says Tottenham have to “fancy themselves” at home to in-form Bournemouth despite losing to Brighton and Hove Albion last time out.

Spurs saw a three-match winning run in the Premier League ended with a humbling 4-2 loss at the Amex Stadium on Thursday (28 December), a game in which they went four goals down.

Next up is a home fixture with Bournemouth at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on New Year’s Eve (31 December).

The Cherries are unbeaten in their past seven Premier League matches, winning six of those including a comfortable 3-0 triumph over Fulham on December 26.

Still, former Tottenham defender Hutton, now a BBC Sport pundit, has predicted that Ange Postecoglou’s men will get back to winning ways.

“It could (be an exciting game), Bournemouth are a team on the up, playing well at this moment in time,” he told Tottenham News.

“Tottenham on the back of an okay performance but lost against a good team in Brighton.

I think Tottenham still win, I still fancy them the way they play. (Yves) Bissouma is still out with his suspension, obviously they’re struggling in certain areas.

“But I think at home they’ve got to fancy themselves.”

Tottenham had racked up wins against Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest and Everton prior to the Brighton setback.

They sit fifth in the table ahead of the visit of Bournemouth and will be aiming to see out 2023 in the Premier League’s top four spots.

After Bournemouth they face an FA Cup assignment against Burnley, before resuming Premier League duties against Manchester United on January 14.
