Ashley Phillips tipped for Premier League loan after Stoke City developments
Tottenham centre-back Ashley Phillips might finally have the opportunity to prove himself in the Premier League.
Ange Postecoglou has plenty of options when it comes to talented young defenders at Tottenham.
Alfie Dorrington has been sent on loan to prove himself at Aberdeen, while Phillips is currently playing his football with Stoke City in the Championship.
Luka Vušković is also set to join the club next season. Therefore, competition for places at centre-back is going to be competitive over the coming years in North London.
However, it looks as though Phillips might have an edge, as he could finally have an opportunity to demonstrate that he can play in the Premier League before some of his peers.

Phillips ‘to join Premier League club on loan’
Phillips has established himself as a key player at Stoke City this season.
The defender has started 21 times in the Championship for the Potters, contributing to seven clean sheets across those starts.
Therefore, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – feels as though the 19-year-old is ready to make the step up to the Premier League.
“I think they need to find a Premier League loan for Phillips next season,” Wenham said.
“However, that will only happen if Phillips continues to impress this season in the Championship. It could be that one of the clubs which ends up being promoted is aware of him and is looking to sign him on loan next season.
“Whatever happens, it needs to be a Premier League loan for Phillips, because he has already done two loans in the Championship.”
Phillips could become a key defender for Tottenham
Plenty of Spurs supporters have likely forgotten about Phillips.
The young defender has been flying under the radar out on loan over the past couple of seasons, and a lot of fans likely haven’t seen much of him. However, this is a player who possesses plenty of talent.
Therefore, there is no reason why Phillips can’t become a key player at Spurs, especially with the long-term future of Cristian Romero up in the air.

However, first, he must prove that he is up to the standard of the Premier League.
