Archie Gray prediction emerges after ‘outstanding’ Tottenham display v Man Utd

Tottenham gem Archie Gray is quickly beginning to establish himself in North London.

Gray started at centre-back as Spurs beat Manchester United 4-3 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday [19 December] to advance to the last four of the Carabao Cup, with Henry Winter hailing the 18-year-old.

Postecoglou has been forced to play Gray out of position as a result of an injury crisis so bad that behind-the-scenes dismissals have been mooted.

However, the youngster is yet to let his manager down, and Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes Gray could become a mainstay for the club.

“I think Gray deserves a special shoutout for his performance against United,” Wenham said.

“It was another huge 90 minutes for him at centre-back. This is an 18-year-old playing out of position, which makes you think how good will he be when he eventually gets to play in his preferred position.

“He has played all across the defence since joining Tottenham, but never in midfield. However, he was still outstanding against United, and it seems like the club have a real gem.

“I’d imagine that Gray will be a massive part of the club for the next decade.”

Archie Gray to become a mainstay at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?

Lots of supporters likely scoffed at the fee paid for Gray.

However, it appears as though the signing might have actually been a steal, especially after a claim emerged about Manchester City’s interest in the ex-Leeds United ace [via the Daily Mail, 19 December].

There have been suggestions that Gray could leave Tottenham on loan in January, with Southampton tipped as a potential destination.

However, it currently looks as though Ange Postecoglou can’t do without him.

And if Gray does end up becoming an important player for Spurs over the next 10 years, nobody is likely to remember what was paid for his services.
