Archie Gray hailed as Tottenham gem makes decision on January transfer exit
Bryan King believes Archie Gray would be doing the right thing by remaining at Tottenham in January.
The ex-Spurs scout thinks the 18-year-old will benefit from continuing to train with the first team in North London.
As reported by Give Me Sport (11 November), Gray has no interest in leaving Tottenham on loan in January. Instead, the youngster wants to make an impression on Ange Postecoglou in training as he looks to feature more regularly in 2025.
And King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes this is the correct attitude for the player to have.
“For Gray to be working and showing Postecoglou and the staff exactly how he is progressing, that is also a good way to improve as a footballer,” King said.
“Therefore, if Gray wants to stay at the club, that is a very good sign. As a result of the injury situation at Tottenham, I think all those things have to be looked at thoroughly.
“They can’t afford to be left short, they’re still in four competitions, and Gray is featuring regularly in Europe.
“He’s training with the first team, not the Under-21s, and that standard and level is as high as you can get in his situation.
“Therefore, if he goes out on loan, the level of training won’t be as high as where he is now. I think Gray would be doing the right thing by staying put and fighting, so well done to him if that is what he does.”
Archie Gray to remain with Tottenham beyond January?
Gray would likely have his pick of clubs to join on loan in January, with Premier League outfit Southampton tipped as a possible destination.
However, it appears as though he is set to snub any interest as he looks to break into the Spurs first-team.
Fans will be no doubt delighted to hear of the player’s commitment to making a name for himself at the club, and Postecoglou must take notice.

With Gray ready to snub a move away in January, the Spurs boss must hand him opportunities where he can to continue his development.
In other Tottenham news, Harry Redknapp has had his say on Postecoglou being sacked.
