Ange Postecoglou told to make Manor Solomon exit call as Tottenham transfer update emerges
Alan Hutton has told Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou to hand Manor Solomon another opportunity in North London during pre-season.
The 24-year-old had a disappointing first season in North London as he only managed to make five Premier League appearances because of injury, with his last involvement coming off of the bench against Liverpool in September.
Postecoglou has already hinted that he is keen to make a number of changes to his squad during the summer transfer window and reports suggest that Solomon is one of the players the Lilywhites would listen to offers for [Paul O’Keefe, 12 May].
Although Hutton thinks Spurs should hand the Israel international another chance to impress next season, he admits it will be down to the winger to impress Postecoglou and earn his trust during pre-season.
“I always liked him as a player,” Hutton told Tottenham News.
“He always gave Scotland a right tough time whenever he played against us, he was a nightmare. But again, he’s another tricky winger that is fast.
“He’s been really unlucky in terms of injury and you really feel for somebody like that because you want to go into a new club and you want to really get going, but you’re hampered by injury.
“I think it’s probably a big pre-season for him. I’ve not really heard much about him like whether he’s ready to go or what kind of stage he is at so I’m presuming that he’s starting to get back to fitness.
“Pre-season will be key for guys like him to go and show the manager exactly what he is capable of and I would give him an opportunity.
“He’s still got something and he still adds something. When he is fully fit, he’s a real problem for defenders.”
Will Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou sell Manor Solomon during the summer transfer window?
Postecoglou has made no secret of his desire to move players on from North London this summer and while he hasn’t yet named names, you have to wonder if Solomon’s injury record could see him placed on the transfer list.

When he is fit and available, the 24-year-old can be a nightmare for defenders to face, as Hutton suggested. But the Lilywhites would be stupid to turn down offers for a player who isn’t capable of playing week in and week out.
With Timo Werner returning for another loan spell to add further attacking depth on the left wing alongside Son Heung-min, you have to wonder if Postecoglou will listen to Hutton’s advice and give Solomon a second chance to prove himself.
