Ange Postecoglou ‘to make eight Tottenham changes’ v Fulham

Ange Postecoglou is expected to make wholesale changes when Tottenham travel to Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday.

Postecoglou eased some of the pressure on his shoulders as his side advanced to the last eight of the UEFA Europa League after beating AZ Alkmaar 3-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday (13 March).

James Maddison was in fine form for Tottenham, netting his 11th goal of the season, while Wilson Odobert grabbed his first two goals for the club.

As a result, confidence will no doubt be high heading into the clash with Fulham.

However, with full focus on the Europa League, a host of Spurs players are expected to make way at Craven Cottage on 16 March.

Micky van de Ven to be axed in eight changes v Fulham

Postecoglou is expected to axe Micky van de Ven for Tottenham against Fulham.

However, the Dutchman isn’t the only first-team star expected to drop out of the side, with Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – anticipating a further seven changes.

“The Europa League is the complete focus now,” Wenham said.

“Therefore, I expect a lot of changes, and I could even see Postecoglou making eight changes from the win against AZ Alkmaar.

“It’s going to be a tough game, no doubt about it. However, if you’d asked any Tottenham fan what was more important, they would have said the game against AZ Alkmaar. I think we could see Ben Davies, Archie Gray and Destiny Udogie come in. Van de Ven will likely be dropped to the bench.

“Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma I expect will start, as well as Brennan Johnson, and Mathys Tel will be pushing for a place in the team as well.”

Tottenham need to focus on the Europa League

While Postecoglou won’t openly admit this, the Premier League is now irrelevant for Tottenham.

Tottenham could finish in the bottom half of the Premier League

All focus will be on the Europa League, and failure to win that competition could result in Postecoglou being sacked by Daniel Levy. Therefore, the Australian will no doubt have all of his eggs in the European basket.
