Ange Postecoglou stance on Yves Bissouma exit mooted as Tottenham transfer admission made

Tottenham would need to be offered a “big fee” to sell Yves Bissouma this summer despite Ange Postecoglou’s desire to refresh his squad, according to Alan Hutton.

The 27-year-old has had a mixed season under the Australian in North London as he started the campaign in excellent form before occasionally struggling with a combination of both disciplinary and fitness issues.

Spurs have already been linked with a number of new midfield options heading into the summer window after Postecoglou admitted he expected several players to leave North London as he plans to put his own stamp on the team.

Although Hutton admits a big money offer could tempt the Lilywhites into parting company with the Mali international, he doesn’t think Postecoglou will be in any rush to sell him when the transfer window opens next month.

“Possibly, but when he’s come in he’s done well,” Hutton told Tottenham News.

“I thought at times he would show more because he’s kind of the link guy who gets around the pitch, but he and Sarr have done well within there at times within the season.

“I would be surprised if he went if we’re talking about money it’s hard to put a figure on it, but you are looking at millions. It would have to be a big fee one to get him out of there and two to then reinvest because nowadays midfielders cost £50million, £60million, £70million.

“So they’d want to get as big a profit on the player as possible and where would he go? I’ve not really heard anything about it so I can’t imagine it happening.

“But it is football at the end of the day so you never know.”

Will Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou sell Yves Bissouma in the summer transfer window?

Having missed out on the Champions League in such a disappointing fashion at the end of the Premier League season, it is only natural that Postecoglou is eager to make a couple of changes to his squad this summer.

It is clear that there are several players whose time in North London has run out, with the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Giovani Lo Celso seemingly eager to take the next step in their career as soon as possible.

But Bissouma doesn’t fall into that category and while he may not have quite hit the heights expected of him under Postecoglou, he has shown enough to suggest that he is worth keeping hold of for the foreseeable future.

Hopefully, Spurs will bat away any big money offers should they arrive for the 27-year-old this summer. With a couple of good additions, the Lilywhites could build around him and Pape Sarr in the middle of the park next term.
