Postecoglou faces Tottenham sack amid ‘unacceptable’ situation – Exclusive

Tottenham will be fully aware of the need to succeed in the Europa League given the failures they have showcased domestically.

Tottenham have no chance of achieving anything through the Premier League, leaving them hanging in the balance to find success in the Europa League.

Not only will that prove crucial to their ability to end the current trophy draught, but also to secure European football for the new campaign, which could prove costly if not achieved.

With that in mind, all attention must be on their clash with Eintracht Frankfurt, with their chances of winning the competition shared in a fresh verdict.

Europa League success will be crucial for Tottenham

If Tottenham can find some form of consistency, they have every chance of winning the Europa League this season, though Paul Robinson, when speaking to Tottenham News, thinks it is crucial that they do so, not just for their own success, but also for Ange Postecoglou.

He said: “They’ve got as good a chance as anybody of winning a competition. It’s massively important for them to win the competition. If you look where they are in the league, 14th in the league, it’s going to be the worst league finish in a long, long time.

“Won 10, drawn four and lost 15 in the league, that’s unacceptable for Tottenham. 34 points in any other season, you could potentially be looking over your shoulder at this time. What’s the goal? 40 points to stay in the Premier League.

Tottenham have been embarrassing in the league.

Obviously, it’s been a lot less than that in recent years, and they’ve got no chance of relegation this year. But I think you take the Europa League out of this season, if they are to go out of it at any point, the season’s been a disaster. It’s been an awful season for them.

“Granted, they’ve had injuries, but there’s only so much you can rely on saying about injuries. All other teams have had injuries. They’ve got as good a chance as anybody to win this Europa League, but their season and potentially the manager’s future really do hinge on it.”

Postecoglou cannot afford to suffer defeat in Europa League

There is every chance that Postecoglou will face the sack even if Tottenham win the Europa League, though a failure to do that would certainly end his tenure at Spurs.

Progression has been nonexistent this season, and without a trophy to show for it, they will have no option other than to sack the Australian.

Just eight days remain until the first leg in North London, where the pressure will be ramped up.
