Barcelona ready to sell Ansu Fati as Tottenham consider transfer ‘madness’

Tottenham have been credited with an interest in FC Barcelona forward Ansu Fati.

As reported by Diario Sport (16 January), Tottenham and West Ham have both shown an interest in signing the Spaniard – who could lessen Spurs’ attacking concerns, especially after Dominic Solanke’s recent injury setback.

And according to Sport (18 January) the La Liga giants are ready to sell Fati, while they are also open to a loan deal in the winter transfer window.

However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – doesn’t think the North London club should go anywhere near the 22-year-old.

“Fati was horrendous at Brighton,” Wenham said.

“He didn’t live up to expectations at all. He is always injured, and he is a player we should be staying well clear of in my opinion. As I said, he didn’t perform at Brighton, and they had no interest in keeping him.

“Therefore, on what basis have Tottenham decided he is good enough for us? I can’t understand this, it would be madness if we were to sign Fati.”

Tottenham urged to stay away from Barcelona ace Ansu Fati

Fati was once considered one of the brightest young prospects in Europe. Therefore, if this rumour had circulated several seasons ago, Tottenham fans would be losing their minds.

However, things have changed, and after the winger’s unsuccessful spell in the Premier League with Brighton, it appears as though his stock has plummeted.

Ange Postecoglou is under serious pressure in North London, and while he needs reinforcements, what he certainly doesn’t need is more dead weight in his already struggling squad.

And after the recent transfer failure of Timo Werner, Spurs cannot afford to sign another expensive loan player who doesn’t live up to expectations. As a result, they would be better suited to avoid a move for Fati.
