Luca Williams-Barnett and Tynan Thompson impress after what Tottenham duo did

Luca Williams-Barnett and Tynan Thompson are continuing to make an impression at Tottenham.

Williams-Barnett has been one of the standout performers at Hotspur Way this season, with the 16-year-old recently offered a contract in North London.

His performances have seen him compared to Mikey Moore, and it would appear as though he isn’t too far off from making his senior debut.

As for Thompson, while he hasn’t made quite the impact Williams-Barnett has made, he too has been progressing well, with the 16-year-old scoring twice and registering three assists in eight Under-18 Premier League starts this season.

And both players made themselves known recently as Spurs advanced to the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup after a 3-2 victory over Middlesbrough’s Under-18s at Hotspur Way [8 December], with Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham detailing just how impressed he was while speaking exclusively with Tottenham News.

“I was delighted by the performance from the team,” Wenham said.

“Williams-Barnett grabbed himself three assists if you include winning the penalty, and he looked really, really good. Meanwhile, Thompson showed great character and composure to score that winning penalty after Middlesbrough had got themselves back into the game.

“We’ve seen some big shocks already in the FA Youth Cup this season, with Liverpool and West Ham both being knocked out. Therefore, for Spurs, it was just about putting their names in the hat for the fourth round draw and getting through a tough tie, which they did.”

Ange Postecoglou to take notice of Luca Williams-Barnett and Tynan Thompson at Tottenham?

Postecoglou has demonstrated that he is willing to give young players a chance.

Therefore, as long as Williams-Barnett and Thompson continue to perform, they have every chance of featuring regularly for the Under-21s, and perhaps even making their first-team debuts as the season progresses.

And considering both players are yet to celebrate their 17th birthdays, that is very exciting for Tottenham fans. However, there will be an anxious wait to see if both players commit their futures to the club.

Should they put pen to paper, Postecoglou will need to start thinking long-term about the pair, assuming he is still in charge of Spurs, with Daniel Levy expected to make a sack decision imminently.

In other Tottenham news, Postecoglou could be putting his job on the line after a Richarlison transfer update.
