Werner flops in 2/10, best gets 7/10 – Tottenham player ratings v Tamworth

Tottenham have progressed to the fourth round of the FA Cup after overcoming National League Tamworth in a dismal display.

The Lilywhites took 100 minutes to score but eventually came out on top with a 3-0 win to see them through to the next round but it was an entirely unconvincing display.

Spurs failed to get a hold on the game within the 90 minutes and the game was forced to extra time after the Lambs were unlucky not to score in the final minutes of normal time.

However, Ange Postecoglou was able to bring on some big names for the final 30 minutes which eventually proved to be the difference to push his side to the win.

Tottenham News have rated each player’s performance out of 10.

Tottenham beat Tamworth in the FA Cup

Antonin Kinsky – 6

Not quite up to the same level he showed against Liverpool. The goalkeeper had a few nervy moments with the ball at his feet but did well when tested a number of times throughout the game.

Pedro Porro – 3

The defender looked well away from his usual standards after a string of good performances for Spurs. Made some clearances but nowhere what you’d expect from the 25-year-old against a National League side.

Radu Dragusin (off for Djed Spence 91′) – 4

Dragusin very nearly gave the hosts a goal at the end of the first half after a poor back pass to his keeper. Also picked up a silly yellow card.

Archie Gray – 6

Gray struggled to get into the game too much but the 18-year-old didn’t do much wrong and did well in the air when tested.

Sergio Reguilon – 6

The 28-year-old put in a solid performance, especially in comparison to his defensive counterparts. Tamworth tested their Premier League opponents but Reguilon did well to deal with the threat.

Pape Matar Sarr (off for Lucas Bergvall 67′) – 5

Sarr was taken off after 67 minutes but did okay in the time that he played. Didn’t contribute too much of note but was fairly decent with the ball.

Yves Bissouma helped Tottenham in midfield

Yves Bissouma – 7

The 28-year-old is one of the only players who can walk away feeling like he put in a performance to the level that is expected of him. Bissouma had the most completed passes and won the most duels in the game, carrying his side at times.

James Maddison (off for Dejan Kulusevski 91′)– 5

A relatively decent performance from Maddison on the afternoon. Some nice play on the ball and looked the most likely to score for the Lilywhites while on the pitch However, the attacking player certainly should have produced some stronger chances against the opposition and seen the game off in the first half.

Brennan Johnson – 4

Johnson didn’t produce a performance to the expected level against the National League opponents. An early chance from Johnson was put way over the crossbar before a big chance was mistimed in the second half and put into the side netting. However, the striker eventually put the game to bed when he made it 3-0.

Timo Werner flops in front of goal

Timo Werner (off for Son Heung-min 91′) – 2

It was an afternoon to forget for Werner who did not look like a top-flight striker. The German rarely touched the ball in the Tamworth box and when he did, failed to show any quality.

Mikey Moore (off for Dominic Solanke 67′) – 4

A fairly average performance from the 17-year-old. Struggled to make any real impact to his side’s attacking efforts but had some of the ball and looked confident on it.

Substitutions

Dominic Solanke (on for Mikey Moore 67′) – 5

The 27-year-old was the attacker who put the shot in for the goal to make it 1-0 to Spurs. However, it was certainly an own goal and in all, the striker did not boost his side’s attack in the way he should have.

Lucas Bergvall (on for Pape Matar Sarr 67′) – 5

Slow to get into the game once on the pitch but after his side scored, he certainly stepped up and put in a decent display to end the afternoon.

Son Heung-min (on for Timo Werner 91′) – 5

Son did show his level of quality once introduced for extra time but against a National League side certainly didn’t do as much as he could have either.

Dejan Kulusevski (on for James Maddison 91′) – 7

A substitution who actually made an impact on the game. The 24-year-old scored his side’s second goal of the afternoon and showed his quality with a good finish.

Djed Spence (on for Radu Dragusin 91′) – 4

Spence hardly saw any of the ball during extra time when he was brought onto the pitch. His side came out on top but this was not a substitution that impacted proceedings.
