Tottenham ‘set for the future’ as five stars named in NXGN list

Tottenham may be struggling right now but the future looks bright in North London.

Ange Postecoglou may face a fight for his future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but he has had a hand in setting up the N17 outfit for the long term.

The latest edition of a popular wonderkid award suggests that what the Australian is doing is working, to a certain extent.

Tottenham have five stars named on NXGN list

Tottenham have had five players named on Goal’s NXGN list of the 50 brightest young talents in the game, a sign that things will get better soon.

Yang Min-Hyeok, Luka Vuskovic, Mikey Moore, Lucas Bergvall, and Archie Gray were all named among the best wonderkids in the world.

The former Leeds ace was ranked 13th in the list, Bergvall was 17th, Moore was 22nd, Vuskovic was 26th, and Hyeok was 43rd.

Postecoglou can get the best out of Tottenham youngsters

If he is given the chance to turn things around in North London, Postecoglou can get the best out of Spurs’ impressive young stars.

The fact that Gray and Bergvall are ranked so highly on the list is a testament to the faith that the former Celtic man has shown in his youth players.

He has been forced to implement them after a brutal injury crisis that has led to a dismal campaign, but has shown no qualms about starting them at the highest level in crucial Premier League and Europa League matches.

While things are rocky right now and Daniel Levy faces a decision on Postecoglou’s future if Spurs are eliminated from Europe, academy talents will benefit while the Australian is in the dugout.

If they can win the competition and end their 17-year trophy drought, those youngsters will gain exposure to Champions League football next season, which will only serve to further their development.

One thing is for sure: if the Lilywhites play it right and trust Postecoglou to salvage his career in N17, the club’s youth will continue to thrive; if he is sacked, they may struggle to impress whatever new manager is brought in.
