Tottenham ace Pedro Porro one step closer to Man City after big Kyle Walker news

Tottenham full-back Pedro Porro may have moved one step closer to securing a return to Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola has been a long-standing admirer of the 24-year-old, who spent three years with the Citizens without a single senior appearance before landing at Spurs via Sporting Lisbon.

Tottenham News reported on 4 January 2024 that Manchester view Porro as the ideal long-term successor for the ageing Kyle Walker.

And now, Daniel Levy must be prepared to fend off interest from the reigning English champions after The Mirror reported on Thursday (2 January) that Saudi Arabia giants Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahli are all interested in securing Walker’s services in January.

Tottenham must brace for Pedro Porro bid

Porro has established himself as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League during his time at Tottenham, and it should come as no surprise to developing interest in his signature.

Ange Postecoglou is reportedly preparing a backup plan, according to Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo (30 December), and is considering activating the £20 million release clause of Rayo Vallecano full-back Andrei Ratiu.

However, Tottenham are rooted in the bottom half of the league table after the New Year and cannot afford to allow one of the few consistent first team performers to leave midway through the campaign.

The Spaniard has been a standout performer for club and country this season, and his attacking threat from the right flank is essential to Postecoglou’s free-flowing tactical approach in North London.

Although Archie Gray and Djed Spence have impressed when deputising in recent weeks, neither are cut of the same cloth as Porro, and any available option in the winter transfer market would represent a significant downgrade.

Tottenham may not be able to fend off Manchester City’s interest forever, but they should be in a strong position to retain the full-back until the end of the season, at the very least, with his contract running until 2028.

In other Tottenham news, Daniel Levy has been told to break the bank at Spurs for Euro 2024 winner.
