Son shocking, Bergvall 8/10- Tottenham player ratings v Frankfurt
Son Heung-min once again failed to deliver as Tottenham drew 1-1 with Eintract Frankfurt in the UEFA Europa League.
Daniel Levy is likely to sack Postecoglou if Spurs fail to win the Europa League.
Therefore, the Australian would have been feeling plenty of pressure as he arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first leg of Spurs’ last-eight tie against Frankfurt on Thursday (10 April), and his decision to drop Djed Spence was a strange one.
This risky decision, which left Spurs supporters fuming, backfired as Frankfurt took the lead inside the first six minutes through Hugo Ekitike.
James Maddison was blasted for his role in the goal. However, the Englishman quickly made amends, setting up Pedro Porro, who finished beautifully to get Tottenham back on level terms in the 26th minute.
Brennan Johnson was poor in the first half and perhaps lucky not to be taken off at the break.
However, Spurs improved in the second half and began to apply some pressure, hitting the woodwork twice and forcing the Frankfurt keeper into some smart saves just before the hour mark.
Neither goalkeeper was particularly busy in the final 30 minutes, with Tottenham seeing plenty of the ball but struggling to create any chances as the match finished 1-1.
As a result, Postecoglou will be feeling the pressure, as he knows victory in Germany might now be needed to save his job at Tottenham.
