Son Heung-min ‘finished’ at Tottenham after transfer news today

Son Heung-min has been a phenomenal servant to Tottenham since he arrived in North London in 2015.

The South Korea international has been one of Spurs’ best players over the past decade, particularly flourishing alongside Harry Kane.

The attacker was entering the final year of his contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but Ange Postecolgou and Daniel Levy chose to trigger an extension clause and extend his stay by an extra season.

However, a recent report from Football Transfers (15 January) has linked Spurs with an interest in Manchester United ace Alejandro Garnacho and it feels like Son could be finished at Tottenham.

The report shares that the North London outlet could be willing to spend around £60million to acquire the Argentina international’s services as they look to rebuild and strengthen their attacking line which is believed to be enough to “tempt” the Red Devils into accepting.

Tottenham need to let Son Heung-min go

Although Son’s history with Tottenham will never be taken away from him, since the start of the 2024/25 season, it’s felt like there have been times when the 32-year-old has been half the player he was even just last term.

Granted, he’s had his fair share of injuries and that will have no doubt taken some of the wind out of his sails but it still feels like the former Bayer Leverkusen man should be doing better for Postecoglou and his teammates.

He may have bagged five Premier League goals already this term but when you’re played in as advanced of a role as what Son is, you’d expect there to be a higher return.

Of course, nothing is yet set in stone but there have already been times this season when fans have called for the head of their captain.

Only time will tell what the future holds but at the moment, it’s rather unclear what lies ahead.

In other Tottenham news, a new manager might have been “given assurances” about a “fantastic” player Spurs want to sign.
