Son abysmal, Spence stars again — Tottenham player ratings v Liverpool
Tottenham lost 4-0 to Liverpool in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final at Anfield.
The North London outfit travelled to Merseyside with a one-goal advantage from the first leg but were unable to capitalise on it.
Cody Gakpo restored parity to the overall scoreline in the first half and Mohamed Salah scored from the spot to give the Reds the lead in the tie.
Dominik Szoboszlai and Virgil van Dijk sealed the game as they beat Antonin Kinsky late in the match.
Tottenham News have given their player ratings out of 10:
Antonin Kinsky – 3
Made a few decent saves to deny Liverpool from scoring more goals, but the Czech goalkeeper committed the foul that led to the penalty. His decision-making on the ball was also questionable.
Archie Gray – 6
Archie Gray was one of the bright sparks in Spurs’ backline as he was solid at the back and tried to create opportunities in the attack.
Kevon Danso – 4
Didn’t have the best of debuts as the Reds kept on putting the North London outfit’s defence under pressure. The Austrian was weak in some of his challenges and struggled at times to find his teammates.
Ben Davies – 5
He was the better of the two centre-backs and was aggressive in his tackles. But the Welshman failed to be the leader at the back when needed.
Djed Spence stands out in Tottenham loss v Liverpool

Djed Spence – 7
Was the bright spark as he tried to provide a threat from the left-hand side. Spence was then moved further up the field after Postecoglou’s second-half substitutions.
Rodrigo Bentancur – 4
Wasn’t able to provide the necessary cover for his defenders and was dispossessed several times in the middle of the park.
Yves Bissouma – 3
A poor showing from the midfielder as he lacked urgency and made an error that led to the first goal at Anfield.
Pape Matar Sarr – 5
While the Senegalese tried to keep the ball ticking in the engine room, he lacked any real impact in the game and was outmuscled by the Liverpool players.
Dejan Kulusevski – 2
Looked lethargic for most of the game as he looked out of sorts on the right wing. The Swedish ace was arguably one of the worst players on the pitch as he lost several duels.
Son Heung-min ineffective in Carabao Cup tie v Liverpool

Son Heung-min – 1
The Tottenham captain was ineffective and looked anonymous against Slot’s team. Conor Bradley shut him down convincingly, with the South Korean disappointing the visiting fans as he scruffed a chance towards the end.
Richarlison – 5
Was substituted in the first half after picking up a knock but looked energetic until being forced off the pitch.
Substitutes:
Mathys Tel – 5
Came on just before the break but was hardly given any service on his debut.
Pedro Porro – 5
Lucas Begvall – 5
Mikey Moore – N/A
