Postecoglou to axe Son in three changes – Tottenham predicted XI v Hoffenheim

Ange Postecoglou could axe Son-Heung-min as part of three changes for Tottenham when they prepare to face Hoffenheim in the Europa League.

Following on from Spurs’ disappointing 3-2 defeat to Everton, attentions turn back to the Europa League with a home clash against Hoffenheim on Thursday evening.

Postecoglou is under growing pressure to keep his job and failure to win against the Bundesliga outfit on 23 January will only amplify those concerns.

In order to prevent that, the Australian could make three changes from the side that fell to defeat against the Toffees, with Son one of those to miss out.

Three changes could be made by Tottenham v Hoffenheim

Antonin Kinsky will likely keep his place between the sticks despite having conceded three goals last time out. The 21-year-old made four saves against the Merseysiders but faced only 1.93 xGOT [FotMob].

Archie Gray could partner Radu Dragusin in the heart of defence, despite neither player particularly impressing against Everton.

Dragusin won just 25 per cent of his aerial duels, while Gray won just 33 per cent on the ground.

Pedro Porro was one of the very few players to receive credit for their recent defeat, having won 83 per cent of his ground duels and 67 per cent of his tackles, while Djed Spence could be dropped with a view to resting him.

Spence, similarly to Porro, did all he could against the Toffees, having completed the most dribbles in the game (nine) while winning 100 per cent of his aerial duels. Sergio Reguilon could return to the starting lineup in his place.

Lucas Bergvall is in line to partner Pape Sarr in midfield, with James Maddison playing slightly higher in the 10 role. Despite failing to create a single chance against Everton, Maddison should keep his place.

Spurs’ front three could see two changes, with Mikey Moore and Will Lankshear both potentially set to play a starting role. Moore was a late substitute at Goodison Park and registered an assist from 0.4 xA, while Son could make way for Lankshear.

Son missed one big chance against Everton while winning just 29 per cent of his ground duels. Dejan Kulusevski could make up the front three.
