Postecoglou ‘knows he’s about to be sacked by Tottenham’ as BBC footage emerges
Ange Postecoglou knows all too well that the pressure has cranked up once again after Tottenham were beaten 3-2 by Everton.
The Australian took his side to Goodison Park on Sunday (19 January) to face a struggling Everton side who were 3-0 up at half-time and took all three points from Spurs.
The defeat leaves Spurs sitting 15th in the Premier League table and eight points clear of the relegation zone which led to the odds of his side’s relegation being slashed.
As the pressure mounts, the boss struggled to keep his cool in his post-match interview with BBC Sport. The interviewer opened by saying: “Ange, familiar story. What are your assessments of that performance please?”
The Australian hit back in his reply and said: “Familiar story? Yeah, okay. Great way to start an interview.”
Ange Postecoglou feeling the pressure at Tottenham
Postecoglou’s side are now without a win in six Premier League games so it is no surprise to see questions being asked of the Australian and his future being discussed.
However, the boss’ reaction during the interview surely means he knows he is very close to being sacked with his stresses being emphasised.
It’s not unusual to see managers being quite touchy in their responses when they know what their fate is and it seems as though we could be seeing that now.
While the Lilywhites have struggled with injury, Postecoglou seems to be unable to adapt his side to deal with this and his stubbornness is seeing his side constantly coming undone.
With results and performances failing to get any better, Daniel Levy may have a very serious decision to make in the coming days.
If the boss is let go, supporters will be eager to see a new appointment through the door as soon as possible, with Andoni Iraola the bookmakers’ favourite currently.
