Maddison ‘one step closer’ to shock Man City deal as Postecoglou bust-up emerge

James Maddison could be set to leave Tottenham after tensions boiled over behind the scenes.

The England international has been one of Spurs’ best performers this season, notching 11 goals and nine assists in 42 matches in all competitions.

That form has not gone unnoticed and Spurs face a battle to keep him with Manchester City interested in the 28-year-old and reportedly willing to bid £60million for his services.

The chances of a move to the Etihad may have increased after a new development as Ange Postecoglou continues to crack under the pressure.

Postecoglou bust-up could lead to Maddison exit

Maddison has emerged as a potential option to replace Kevin De Bruyne for Pep Guardiola‘s side in the summer transfer window.

He may be even closer to the exit door in North London after details of a bust-up with Postecoglou emerged.

A report from The Boy Hotspur (15 April) claims that the former Leicester player has clashed with the Australian directly in recent weeks as Spurs’ season unravels.

Tottenham need to keep Maddison

If it comes down to a choice between player or manager, especially one that has such a bad relationship with supporters and has Spurs sitting in 15th place, it is a simple choice.

That is especially true when the player in question is as good as Maddison and he is clearly doing something right if Guardiola wants him to replace a Premier League legend.

Spurs may be able to keep hold of the ex-Coventry ace if they get rid of the former Celtic man, and if that is the case then it is a no-brainer for Levy.

Spurs could turn a hefty profit on Maddison and he is approaching 30 but he is one of the leaders in the dressing room and his influence on the pitch would not easy to replace in the transfer window.

On the other hand, the beleaguered manager would be, with the likes of Andoni Iraola and Marco Silva both representing exciting candidates to take over the reins at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium if Levy decides to end the misery in N17.
