Levy ‘finally comes to senses’ after Mathys Tel Tottenham transfer revelation

Daniel Levy hasn’t made the best transfer decisions at Tottenham over the years, and similar concerns may arise with Mathys Tel next summer.

Spurs signed the 19-year-old from Bayern Munich on loan with an option to buy in the winter transfer window.

The North London outfit desperately needed attacking reinforcements and ended up getting the France Under-21 international.

Tel has struggled under Ange Postecoglou, though, failing to make much of an impact in his first few months in N17 and fighting for regular minutes.

Postecoglou will want Levy to back him next summer at Tottenham

As things stand, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Levy sack the Australian manager before the end of the season.

Spurs are 14th in the Premier League, and their prospects domestically look bleak with seven games left.

Postecoglou’s future arguably depends on the Europa League, and if he wins the competition, the North London outfit’s chairman must bolster the squad next summer.

One decision the Lilywhites will need to make is whether they’ll trigger the £45million option to buy Tel permanently in the coming months.

Spurs to negotiate Tel transfer price tag with Bayern

The French youngster hasn’t been anywhere good enough for the North London outfit to spend big money on him next summer.

While the 19-year-old has a lot of potential, the Lilywhites haven’t seen glimpses of it so far, and it feels like Levy has finally come to his senses.

Tottenham want to renegotiate Tel’s fee with Bayern as they’re not willing to trigger the current buy option, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The Sky Sports journalist reports on X (11 April) that while Spurs are happy with the centre-forward, they don’t want to pay around £45m for him.

It’s been claimed that the France Under-21 international has no future at the Bavarians under Vincent Kompany, potentially giving the North London outfit a boost during negotiations.

The Bundesliga giants want to sell the 19-year-old, and the Lilywhites may be able to take advantage of the situation.

Tel’s current price tag is arguably too high, but it remains to be seen how low Bayern are willing to go.
